Kincardine Veterinary Services is a Fear Free certified clinic and strives to ensure that every patient and their person has as positive an experience with us as possible! It’s no secret that, historically, veterinary visits aren’t most pet’s idea of fun. But the KVS team’s dedication to the Fear Free movement has changed that for our patients! All our team members are Fear Free certified, taking specialty training on stress-free handling and care for our patients in order to provide as much mental and physical comfort as possible. We take great care to make our exams happy, ensuring that each individual patient gets time to familiarize themselves with us, all while we read their body language and monitor for any signs of fear, stress, and anxiety (FAS). We make use of calming pheromones in our exam rooms, high reward treats, toys, and use a numbing cream (Emla) to reduce the poke of the needle during vaccinations, blood collections, and IV catheter placements. If a particularly sensitive pet needs more than this, it will be given. At KVS, we truly want all of our patients to feel happy and safe in our care.
For those poor kiddos whose FAS remains high despite us, we offer pre exam anxiety-reducing medications to help them (and you) cope. And of course, you are always welcome and encouraged to stop by with your pet for happy visits. Our team looks forward to pampering your furry companion with lots of love and treats!
